Egym became known for selling smart fitness equipment to studios and clubs. With Wellpass, the Munich startup also offers employees access to a network of partner facilities such as fitness studios. These are intended to provide affordable and high-quality products and services for maintaining health and fitness. The approximately 1,500 fitness studios, swimming pools, and spas of Hussle now extend the offering to the United Kingdom. According to the company, they cover 96 percent of all British postal code areas in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Wellpass from Egym offers access to 14,500 sports offerings
In total, Wellpass now provides access to around 14,500 sports offerings in Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, France, and Belgium, as well as online courses. Consumers gain access when their employer concludes a framework agreement with Egym Wellpass or Hussle. Companies determine a co-payment that their employees must assume. At the same time, tax benefits further reduce costs for users.
Philipp Roesch-Schlanderer, CEO of Egym, says:
“From our very first conversations, it was clear that Jamie Ward and Neil Harmsworth truly want to improve an industry for which they have been passionate since founding Hussle 13 years ago. Their consistent entrepreneurial spirit, which became particularly evident during the pandemic, is commendable. Their track record in building an outstanding wellness company for employees is truly inspiring. The fact that the NHS prioritizes prevention over treatment aligns well with our mission, and we share this conviction wholeheartedly – we look forward to beginning this journey together.”
Hussle CEO Jamie Ward adds:
“From the moment I met Philipp and his team, I knew that Egym’s offering was groundbreaking. As I better understood Egym’s products and heard their vision, I realized I was looking into the future and that I wanted Hussle to be part of it. We founded Hussle in 2011 to make fitness accessible to everyone. Our vision has always been rooted in a strong fitness industry, and the Egym team shares this core belief. We are pleased to contribute to making Egym’s vision a reality. We are only at the beginning – great things are still to come.”
“A milestone for the fitness industry”
And Neil Harmsworth, COO of Hussle, adds:
“This is a milestone for the fitness industry, connecting Egym’s next-generation gymtech with the rapidly growing corporate benefits space that Hussle has enabled for our fitness operator partners through companies like AXA Health and Bupa. I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to combine our corporate offering with Egym’s revolutionary gymtech, so that our fitness industry partners can benefit from both new customers and the industry’s best fitness equipment and software.”
Nicolas Stadtelmeyer, Managing Director of Wellpass, is pleased about the expansion:
“We warmly welcome Jamie, Neil, and the entire Hussle team to EGYM. Our mission is to promote health and wellbeing in every workplace. With over 32 million employees and a corporate wellness market worth 2.15 billion pounds, entering the British market was a logical and strategic step. Following our market entry in France, we are now present in the three largest European economies. The future is very exciting for us.”
