New round of the ideas competition “Solve for Tomorrow” starts

Samsung's "Solve for Tomorrow" innovation competition, which this year has the theme "AI for Society," is entering a new round. Applications can be submitted until June 16.

With "Solve for Tomorrow," Samsung aims to support young people aged 16 to 25 who have an idea about how AI can add value to society. The program supports participants in the realization of their projects by providing relevant skills and access to mentors. This year's focus is on how Artificial intelligence can provide useful support in the start-up process.

Design thinking workshops for perfect preparation

The application period for Solve for Tomorrow runs until June 16, 2024. During this period, Samsung, together with its project partner Ekipa, an innovation incubator at the interface between science and business, is offering design thinking workshops at universities in Germany to facilitate entry into the topic. Here, participants will learn at which points in the startup process they can meaningfully integrate AI: Which tools are suitable in the ideation process to support research and enrich market analyses? How can they use AI to further refine their pitch? What are the limitations of AI, and what ethical questions arise from its use?

10 becomes 5

From all submitted ideas, nine teams will qualify for participation in an ideas camp in the summer. One additional team will have the opportunity to secure a wildcard spot through a social media vote by successfully inspiring their community with their idea. The 10 teams will then experience two days of intensive workshops and coaching sessions to help them turn their ideas into sustainable business models. For five teams, the journey continues after a pitch to a panel of experts.

Grand finale at IFA Berlin

After a two-month development phase, they are ready for the big stage at the IFA in Berlin: The pitch finals will then determine which three ideas will be accepted into the Impact Phase of the Solve for Tomorrow program. The three winning teams will receive individual support from experts at Impact Hub Berlin and Samsung mentors for a further six months, with the goal of supporting them in implementing a pilot project, finding strategic partners, or directly launching a company. They will also receive earmarked prize money of up to €10,000 and technical equipment including Samsung devices to further develop their ideas.
