The fact that the Munich startup scene can also serve the luxury segment is proven by the Gallery owner and founder Franziska Scheuerle. With her platform Loremo allows companies and private clients to order customized artworks using an algorithm-based configurator. These exclusive, one-of-a-kind pieces can be customized to match the colors of the client's existing interior design and personality. The business model involves matching prospective clients with suitable artists, for which Loremo then receives a portion of the purchase price.
Franziska Scheuerles She clearly stated her goal for participating in the show:
"After putting so much love, passion, and enthusiasm into Loremo, I now need the money and the expertise of the lions. That's why I'm getting the deal now."
In plain language, that meant 200,000 euros for 10 percent of the company shares.
Error-free presentation for Loremo
In her pitch, the young entrepreneur took the jury on “an emotional color journey of exclusive aesthetics,” which made a powerful impression on the jury members. Carsten Maschmeyer commented:
"Franziska, that was a top-notch presentation, full of vibrancy and interaction. Flawless, ready for print! It was the best rhetorical presentation I've seen in a few hundred pitches."
Although, like his fellow judges, he considered the founder's idea to be immature, he was won over by the person behind it. Together with Dagmar Wöhrl and Tillman Schulz, the entrepreneur made a counteroffer: €200,000 for a 30 percent stake in the company. After a brief telephone consultation, Franziska Scheuerle agreed to the deal. A gut decision, as she confirmed immediately after her pitch.
It is probably all the more disappointing for the founder that the business ultimately came to nothing. In an interview with Wirtschaftswoche She reports that a personal exchange took place in Munich following the broadcast. Maschmeyer contributed his AI and tech expertise, Wöhrl her knowledge of the luxury and art market, and Schulz his expertise in the areas of luxury, art, and innovative technologies.
"But for strategic reasons, we ultimately couldn't agree on a collaboration. But I firmly believe that contact will remain,"
so Scheuerle.
