Planet A Foods: Deutsche Bahn distributes chocolate alternative Choviva

Deutsche Bahn is launching a partnership with Munich-based startup Planet A Foods and bringing the innovative, cocoa-free chocolate Choviva on board its long-distance trains.

Over the next two summers, Choviva will be distributed as a gift in first-class passengers on Deutsche Bahn's ICE and Intercity trains. The partnership will kick off with a special edition, the "Favorite Fan," coinciding with the European Football Championship. The gift will be distributed to passengers in the form of a heart-shaped shortbread with Choviva pieces.

Choviva is the world's first cocoa-free chocolate. Instead, it is made from regional oats and sunflower seeds using a patented manufacturing process. By eliminating cocoa beans, the deforestation required for their cultivation is eliminated. According to estimates by Planet A Foods, this results in a carbon footprint up to 90 percent lower than that of chocolate. Choviva is already available in various retail chains in Germany.

Maximilian Marquart, CEO and co-founder of Planet A Foods, says about the partnership with Deutsche Bahn:

"Deutsche Bahn is the perfect match for us as a partner. We both pursue the same mission: saving several million tons of CO2 per year. One is through sustainable mobility solutions, and the other is through providing sustainable food that uses limited resources. It only makes sense to achieve even more together."

Planet A Foods develops using innovative preparation processes Sustainable food ingredients that can be produced independently of highly limited resources such as cocoa, palm oil, or land. The company uses only natural ingredients. The cocoa-free chocolate Choviva is also part of the startup's portfolio. In September, Planet A Foods, together with the companies Peter Kölln and Griesson-de Beukelaer, launched its first products in Germany on supermarket shelves brought.
