Ryte acquired by Semrush

The Munich-based website user experience platform Ryte has been acquired by Semrush, a SaaS platform for online visibility management. The acquisition is considered a strategic decision that will lead to more powerful solutions for both companies' customers.

Ryte from Munich and Semrush from Boston have both established themselves as experts in complementary fields in recent years. The Munich have focused on website optimization from a user experience perspective, with a particular focus on search engine optimization, quality assurance, web performance, sustainability, accessibility, and compliance. Semrush, on the other hand, is all about the online visibility of companies. The company's tools cover, among other things, search engine optimization campaigns, pay-per-click, content, social media, and competitive research, as well as measuring online marketing results.

With this acquisition, the two companies are joining forces. It opens up new sales opportunities for Ryte and gives the Munich-based company access to Semrush's extensive customer base. Semrush, in turn, strengthens its newly launched enterprise SEO platform, which unifies SEO operations across teams, industries, and regions.

Ryte wants to expand its global market presence with the help of Semrush

Andy Bruckschlögl, founder of Ryte, explains:

"We are excited to partner with Semrush to realize our vision for the future of website user experience while further strengthening Semrush's leading enterprise SEO platform. Working with Semrush will enable us to drive innovation, significantly accelerate Ryte's product development, and strategically expand our global market presence. These ambitious goals would have taken significantly longer to achieve as a standalone company."

Andreas Bruckschlögl, Marcus Tandler, Niels Dörje and Jan-Hendrik Reichenbacher founded Ryte together in 2012. Until 2017, the company operated under the name Onpage.orgThe startup's total funding is approximately €25 million, with its most recent investment in 2021. At that time, the company raised a total of just over €8.5 million in two closings in its Series A round. Ryte's investors include Senovo, PD ventures, SEK Ventures, Bayern Kapital, and others.

Eugene Levin, President of Semrush, says:

"Today, we warmly welcome all Ryte employees to the Semrush family and look forward to fully leveraging the diverse opportunities this acquisition brings."

Bruckschlögl adds:

"Exciting times lie ahead, and I am proud of the entire Ryte team, especially my two co-founders Marcus Tandler and Niels Dörje, as well as our CFO and COO Jens Mittnacht. Their decisive contributions have made this important step towards the future possible."

The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
