SevenVentures is the investment arm of ProSiebenSat.1 and a leading TV media investor. With the SevenVentures Pitch Day, it gives young companies the opportunity to present their products to a broad audience. The competition final will take place on October 15th as part of the New Com Summit in Munich, a two-day conference for online marketing and e-commerce. It will also be broadcast live on Joyn for the first time. And the prize is also impressive: With media services valued at three million euros and a budget for a dedicated TV commercial, the SevenVentures Pitch Day is considered one of the most important events in the global startup scene.
To participate in the competition, startups must meet only a few requirements. First, they should offer consumer-oriented products or services. Second, they should be at a stage of development where they can benefit from the advertising power of winning. Because if large numbers of viewers see the TV spots, the winning startup should be able to meet the resulting demand. The application deadline is September 12th.
Jason Modemann, juror, co-founder and managing director of Mawave and co-founder of New Com, says:
"The SevenVentures Pitch Day is the perfect conclusion to our first day of the New Com Summit: Here, great founders with innovative ideas meet experienced experts on the jury. True to the motto of this year's Pitch Day, 'Joyning Your Journey,' I'm delighted to accompany ambitious startups on their journey. Past winners, such as Bears with Benefits, have already seen the long-term impact that winning the media budget can have on the company."
Top-class jury for the SevenVentures Pitch Day
From all applications, an experienced team of investment experts from SevenVentures will select four startups, which will pitch live to a top-class jury at the finals on October 15th at the New Com Summit. In addition to Jason Modemann, the jury includes two other experienced founders: Saliha Özcan (founder of Sallys Welt) and Boris Hardi (managing director of Oonique). Also present are Alexandra Szarmach, managing director and CHRO of Flaconi, and SevenVentures managing director Florian Weber. As in previous years, ProSieben presenter Steven Gätjen will host the event.
Florian Weber is looking forward to the competition with great anticipation:
"As a long-time jury host of the SevenVentures Pitch Day, I'm looking forward to the exciting applications from the startups again this year and, above all, to seeing the four finalists live on stage with my fellow high-profile jury members. The livestream of the final on Joyn is an absolute highlight for us, as it will allow even more people to follow this competition and the show live. And the winners can immediately get used to their presence on Joyn, as they have their own TV and digital campaign worth millions up for grabs."
At the last SevenVentures Pitch Day two years ago A Munich startup, Bears with Benefits, wonAt that time, co-founder Laurence Saunier:
"We're incredibly excited that TV will now give us even greater reach for our Femhealth platform. We offer women various beauty vitamin complexes for every day and every beauty need. We combine pharmaceutical research with naturalness and a positive and sustainable attitude to life. The advertising power of Prosiebensat.1 will also help us further break down the taboos surrounding topics like menstruation and menopause with our products. We're really looking forward to the moment when the first Bears with Benefits TV spot goes on air."
