As Spin-off of the Technical University of Munich Reverion has developed and patented a modular small-scale biogas power plant. According to the company, its efficiency is 80 percent. In the event of a surplus of electricity in the grid, the plant can also switch from electricity generation to electricity use in a very short time. It then produces hydrogen or methane, thus also serving as an energy storage device and to stabilize the grids.
According to the company, Reverion has already received pre-orders worth over €90 million ($100 million). With the latest €56 million funding, the startup can now enter series production and fulfill this order volume. In addition to EIP, Honda, and the EIC Fund, existing investors Extantia Capital, UVC Partners, Green Generation Fund, Doral Energy-Tech Ventures, and Possible Ventures also provided funding for this purpose.
Ashwin Shashindranath, Partner at Energy Impact Partners, explains:
"What Reverion has achieved is simply extraordinary. It's an example of the market traction we seek in emerging climate tech companies."
The technology of Reverion is especially for farmers and Industrial customers Interesting. Farmers can increase the output of their existing biogas plants, sell the liquefied CO2, and thus create a new source of income. In industry, the plants can be integrated into thermal and chemical processes and, in addition to heat, also produce various gases for on-site use.
Silicon Canals quoted Stephan Herrmann, CEO and Managing Director of Reverion GmbH:
"Demand for our devices has been overwhelming in Germany, and we're not content with that—we're preparing for a global push, with strategies tailored to the regulations of each region. In this funding round, we've selected partners who can provide capital and critical expertise in scaling hardware. We're excited to bring high-profile investors from the US and Japan on board as we expand the company."
Most recently, UVC Partners, Green Generation Fund, Extantia Capital, Doral Energy-Tech Ventures and the biomethane trader Landwärme invested 8.5 million euros in Reverion.
