Swiping to the right job: The “swipe” principle learned through Tinder & Co also wants to Job placement platform JobNinja to make the mobile application process as efficient and convenient as possible for its users. The Munich-based startup, founded by Mircea Popa and Laurent Meyer and supported by SCE Start-up Funding since May 2016, focuses on finding jobs for low- and medium-skilled individuals. The app is now available in the App Store and Google Play Store.
Digital solutions on mobile devices have become indispensable. It seems like there's a suitable app for (almost) every area of life. However, JobNinja claims to have discovered a niche in the job placement sector: new jobs can be found quickly and efficiently with a swipe. The Munich-based company considers the traditional application process too time-consuming and demotivating. They want to make the path to a new job smarter for their target group – the so-called Generation Y. To achieve this, JobNinja brings employers and employees together based on job requirements and personal qualifications in a matching process – just like any dating agency does. Sounds simple, but is it?
Tinder for job seekers
How does this matching process work? After downloading the JobNinja app, job seekers can upload their contact information and a short resume and then receive personalized job offers. Only applicants who meet the employer's minimum requirements will they be offered these positions. Applicants can then apply for the job openings using a swipe or swipe gesture. Applicants' information is digitally recorded, and employers can compare the respective applicants on the JobNinja website using a sorting and filtering function.
What certainly makes it easier to compare applications: Unlike existing job boards, JobNinja does not offer highly qualified jobs, but mainly trainee positions such as hostess, driver and waiter.
"Our main target group is Generation Y, who spend all day surfing the internet on their mobile phones anyway. They can apply for jobs on the subway, on the way to university, during a coffee break, or while relaxing on a park bench. Applying has never been easier!"
assures one of the JobNinja founders.
Sounds good. It will be interesting to see whether Tinder becomes a popular job search tool, and whether the next employer will be just a swipe away in the future.
