Digital City Munich Association joins forces to expand the digital metropolis

Dear digital metropolis Munich, a new association has been born for you: The Digital City Munich Association! Its goal is to further develop Munich as a digital metropolis. To achieve this, it offers entrepreneurs, founders, educational institutions, and media representatives a platform for mutual networking and actively shaping digital transformation. Its members are tasked with moderating and influencing innovation processes. This should further strengthen Munich as a business location.

Further development of the digital metropolis Munich

The Digital City Munich association is creating, for the first time, a cross-sector platform for the exchange of ideas and the development of joint projects. Networking between entrepreneurs, startups, educational institutions, and media representatives plays a crucial role. The association's initiator is Prof. Dr. Claudia Linnhoff-Popien, head of the Innovation Center for Mobile Internet (InnoMI), a research project funded with a total of 7.2 million euros by the initiative Center for Digitalization Bavaria (ZD.B)She also holds the chair for Mobile and Distributed Systems at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU).

“The members of Digital City Munich want to drive innovation processes forward, play an active role in them and thus strengthen Munich as a business location,”

says Prof. Dr. Claudia Linnhoff-Popien. And continues:

“In the future, the DigiTalks event series will create a lively forum for the exchange of ideas on digital topics.”

Promoting digital education

Digital City Munich also aims to inspire young people to embrace digitalization. For this reason, the association is collaborating with a journalistic project on digital transformation: an online magazine and a nationwide journal are planned, each presenting complex topics of digitalization in an easily understandable way. The association supports schools with free subscriptions to the print magazine. This primarily targets teachers, but ultimately, of course, students should benefit from the service.

"With the magazine and the way we present the topics, we are removing teachers' reservations about IT and digital technology and bringing these topics into the classroom. We want to promote digital skills and advance STEM education in schools,"

says CEO Linnhoff-Popien. As the first sponsor, the Munich-based IT consulting and software company ConSol is donating copies of the magazine to 40 schools. The first issue will be published on December 1st; schools and other sponsors can already order copies of the new magazine.
