In the Munich business plan competition, startups can present their business ideas, receive well-founded expert feedback, and establish important contacts with investors and industry insiders. Baystartup has now recognized ten tech startups from 139 submissions in the first of three phases. The teams that particularly impressed the jury with their business concepts cover a broad spectrum of technologies.

Area: Biomedical and medical technology

  • Prop from the environment of LMU München is developing precisely controllable pro-proteins for treating type 2 diabetes.
  • Bioexotec from TU München is working on a cost-effective diagnostic solution for early-stage carcinomas based on RNA analysis.

Area: Defense technology

  • Muvopt from Universität der Bundeswehr München is developing AI-supported software for autonomous drones that enables efficient coordination and navigation.

Area: Renewable energy & nanoscience

  • Thermovation from Ingolstadt is launching a compact, cost-efficient heat pump on the market that optimizes heating systems and reduces energy consumption.
  • Insyt Technologies from LMU München is developing the first non-invasive real-time microscope for ultrafast processes in the nanorange.

Area: AI, robotics & quantum computing

  • Tenum automates DevOps tasks, i.e., the integration of software development and IT operations, for web and SaaS applications.
  • Versatile Robotics improves the precision and stability of robots for more efficient human-robot interaction.
  • Peak Quantum from the environment of TU München is advancing industrial use of quantum computing with reliable, error-protected quantum processors.
  • Linque from LMU München is developing photonic integrated circuits for optical information processing.
  • Ovrlay offers AI-supported software solutions for automated 3D models and digital twins.

Expert feedback as a success factor

Max Achmedschin, head of the Munich business plan competition, is impressed:

“The diversity and substance of this year’s winners demonstrate the enormous potential of the south Bavarian tech and startup scene. Our goal is to equip startups with practical expert feedback and a strong network to best prepare them for market entry and upcoming funding rounds.”

Muvopt co-founder Jeremy Bertoncini adds:

“We learned about Baystartup at the Munich Startup Festival 2024. We took the opportunity of participating in phase 1 of the competition to intensively examine our business idea, target group analysis, and competitive strategy. The valuable feedback from experts will help us further improve our business concept.”

The Munich business plan competition supports startups in three phases on their path to market maturity. All participants, not just the winners, receive written feedback from a jury of entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts. The journey continues through summer with phases 2 and 3, in which startups further develop their business plans based on specified priorities. Founders from south Bavaria still have until April 8, 2025 to register for phase 2.
