The AI Music Summit will take place on May 12, 2025, in Munich's Werksviertel district – an exclusive event that explores the intersection of music and artificial intelligence (AI). Organized by GEMA in cooperation with Wise, the event also serves as the kickoff to the GEMA General Assembly 2025. The event brings together music creators, tech experts, startups, and other stakeholders from the music tech ecosystem to discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI in the music industry.
Artificial intelligence as a creative partner
A central aspect of the AI Music Summit is the discussion on the creative use of AI in music production. This includes questions such as: "How can AI become a creative partner – rather than a replacement?", "What will the next generation of AI tools for music creators look like?", and "What does authorship mean when machines compose?" These and other topics will be explored throughout the event, with the responsible use of AI and the protection of intellectual property in the digital age also playing a major role.
Startup Pitch: The path to the future of music production
The AI Music Summit 2025 offers a unique opportunity for startups working at the intersection of music and AI. GEMA and Wise are seeking six visionary startups with a working MVP that support musicians with their technologies. These technologies should support the creative process while ensuring an ethical and future-oriented approach to AI.
The selected startups will have the opportunity to pitch their solutions to a professional audience from the music and tech industries. In addition, the winners of the PitchThe competition offers prize money of 3,000 euros and exclusive funding from Fraunhofer Tech-Matching. This cooperation with Fraunhofer enables the startups to further develop their technologies and pursue new research and development approaches.
