Ororatech expands Series B

Munich-based new space startup Ororatech is increasing its Series B financing to €37 million. New investors such as BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund and Bayern Kapital are also on board.

Ororatech has expanded its Series B financing round to a total of €37 million. In addition to existing investors such as Bayern Kapital, which is reinvesting through the ScaleUp Fund Bayern, other investors are also joining, including the BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund as lead investor, Rabo Ventures, Edaphon, and the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF). The company had previously 25 million euros collected.

Ororatech develops satellite-based solutions for the detection and risk assessment of forest fires. They use specially developed, multispectral thermal imaging cameras installed on nanosatellites – barely larger than a shoebox. Using artificial intelligence, the so-called Wildfire Intelligence Solution thermal data, detects potential fire sources and simulates their further behavior.

Leading technology from Munich

With ten active satellites currently in Earth orbit, Ororatech already has an extensive data infrastructure. This enables the creation of a digital twin of the Earth for wildfires – a dynamic model that combines real-time observations with precise forecasts. Spacetech protects more than 347 million hectares on six continents with its solution. Contracts exist with government partners in Greece and Canada.

"We are pleased that we have once again been able to convince both new and existing investors like Bayern Kapital of the potential of our combination of scalable space infrastructure and AI analytics. Our goal is to further advance our growth and position as a leading provider of thermal data-based wildfire detection and risk assessment solutions for various industries and governments worldwide. With the funds from the expanded Series B financing round and the support of our investors, we will succeed in doing so."

says Martin Langer, CEO and CTO of Ororatech. Also Monika Steger, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital, is convinced:

"Ororatech's solution has great potential, not only for fighting wildfires and thus protecting our planet. Wildfire Intelligence Solution is also highly relevant for sectors such as forestry, agriculture, and the insurance industry. Ororatech itself has already experienced significant growth – the company recently placed a Wildfire constellation consisting of eight satellites in orbit, thus expanding its database. Ororatech has also signed several contracts with notable partners. Therefore, Ororatech remains a promising investment for us, and one we intend to continue supporting in the future."

In addition to forest fire monitoring, Ororatech is exploring additional application areas, such as gas flare monitoring, urban heat island mapping, and analysis for the agricultural industry. Current investments are intended to support both technological development and the company's international expansion. Company make possible.
