The application period for the Women Start-up Award 2025 is underway. Budding tech founders with a connection to Bavaria can apply for the new award until June 25. The award is aimed at startups with at least one female founder on the management team that are still in the early stages of their development or are about to enter the market.
The award's goal is to empower women in the tech sector—since only 19 percent of all startups are currently founded by women, and the proportion in the tech industry is even lower. The Women Start-up Award addresses this very issue. It creates role models, promotes the visibility of female founders, and offers targeted access to relevant networks.
Diverse support for female founders
The prize is awarded by the Women Start-up initiative of UnternehmerTUM in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, Gründerland Bayern, and numerous partners from the startup ecosystem. Munich Startup supports the award as an official partner.
The offer for the winners includes a comprehensive support package:
- Prize money of over 1,000 euros
- Access to exclusive industry events
- a personal dinner with an experienced investor
- Prototyping grants
- intensive coaching by experts from the UnternehmerTUM network
After the application deadline, a selection phase follows. At the end of July, the jury will nominate the finalists, who will then undergo a three-month individual training program. The program culminates with a major pitch night on October 23 at the Munich Urban Colab. There, the finalists will present their solutions to a distinguished jury. Awards will be given to three winning teams and one additional project with a special focus on sustainability.
