This year's finals of the nationwide Generation-D competition focused on sustainable business ideas. Two Munich-based startups emerged victorious from the six final teams. The competition promotes entrepreneurial ideas that contribute to the implementation of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to prize money, the teams receive access to a strong network and valuable expertise.
Generation D: Innovations with social impact
The Munich startup Muniqo Performante In addition to first place, the company also secured the Audience Award. Founders Luca Fabiano and Sebastian Wann developed a magnetic spring damping system with a vibration sensor. It stabilizes transport incubators for premature babies, thus protecting them from dangerous vibrations. The technology can also be used in battery manufacturing or quantum technology applications.
Third place also went to a Munich startup: PurayThe medtech company was founded in 2018 and is developing an innovative catheter that is continuously disinfected during treatment using UV-C light. This provides patients with better protection against wound infections and multi-resistant germs.
This year, Generation-D once again showcases how young entrepreneurs are tackling social challenges with creative ideas. The winners impressively demonstrate that technological progress and social impact can go hand in hand.
