Precision: The new generation of milk

Munich-based foodtech company Precision is rethinking milk – with an innovative recipe for plant-based products that tastes like cow's milk, froths perfectly, and is also healthier and more sustainable. The idea is the brainchild of experienced founders with a vision: conscious enjoyment without compromise.

Munich Startup: What does your startup do? What problem do you solve?

Malte Zeeck, Co-Founder: We want to rethink milk. With Precision, we have created a new generation of Dairy products developed that offers the full flavor of traditional cow's milk, but is significantly healthier and more sustainable. Our milk alternative consists of 97 percent plant-based ingredients and three percent high-quality milk protein. This way, we combine the best of milk with the best of plants. Many people love milk but want to consume it more consciously. Until now, they've mostly had to choose between taste and responsibility. We show: both are possible.

New category: Neither cow's milk nor plant milk

Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!

Malte Zeeck: Classic plant-based milks exist, but they're always a compromise. Either they lack flavor or they don't froth well. We wanted to create a product that solves precisely that. Precision isn't cow's milk, but it's not a typical plant-based milk either; it's a new category. Thanks to our precise formulation and processing technology, we've recreated the taste, texture, and frothability of real milk. with a superior nutrient profile and a significantly better environmental footprint.

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Malte Zeeck: We – Fabio Labriola, Malte Zeeck, and Philipp von Plato – all come from digital entrepreneurship backgrounds. Fabio co-founded the e-commerce company Fashionette, Philipp and Malte built Internations, and Philipp also built Westwing. After successful exits, we wanted to create something with real impact. We are united by the desire to develop products that taste good, are good for you, and are good for the planet. This is how the idea of completely rethinking milk was born, and together with research partners like the Fraunhofer Institute, we worked for over 1.5 years on the perfect recipe.

Innovation requires patience and precision

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Malte Zeeck: Taste is incredibly complex—that was the biggest challenge. Even the smallest changes in pressure, temperature, or composition have a major impact on the result. We had to perfectly coordinate the recipe and process technology to achieve the same mouthfeel and creaminess as cow's milk. At the same time, our vision—a completely cow-free future through precision fermentation—meets a new regulatory environment. Innovation here requires a great deal of patience and precision.

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?

Malte Zeeck: Within a year, we aim to establish Precision throughout Germany in retail and the food service industry. We are currently represented in selected Edeka stores in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Hamburg. The rollout for all of Germany and Austria will follow in 2026. In five years, we aim to transform the dairy market with a completely animal-free milk alternative produced through precision fermentation. At the same time, we are expanding our product range to include yogurt, cheese, and milk-based drinks. Our vision: conscious enjoyment without compromise.

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Malte Zeeck: Munich is exactly the right place for us. There is a strong network of Foodtech, research, and entrepreneurship. The proximity to partners like the Fraunhofer Institute was crucial to our development. Furthermore, Munich stands for quality, enjoyment, and innovation – values with which we strongly identify. We experience an open, growing environment here that truly understands and promotes food tech.

Precision is part of the DNA

Munich Startup: Outsource or do it yourself?

Malte Zeeck: We believe in focus. We handle research, product development, and brand management ourselves. This is our core. We manage production and logistics with experienced partners who share our quality standards. This allows us to scale flexibly without compromising on the product. For us, precision doesn't end with the name; it's part of our DNA.
