The idea is reminiscent of pneumatic tubes or the futuristic transport tubes from the comic series Futurama: The "Hyperloop" is intended to transport people at the speed of sound using a tube. The student group WARR at the Technical University of Munich is building a Hyperloop prototype and raising money for it on Indiegogo.
Tesla founder Elon Musk dreams of mobility at surging speed: Transport vehicles powered by solar cells would zip across the country in a vacuum-sealed tube on concrete stilts at speeds of 1,200 km/h—fast, clean, and quiet. The Hyperloop would cover the distance from Munich to Berlin in just 35 minutes. Experts believe this is already technically feasible today.
To advance this concept, self-made visionary Musk and his company SpaceX launched a competition for the best prototype. From 700 applications, 30 teams were gradually selected to present and test their Hyperloop vehicle on a test track in California in the summer of 2016. As one of only two European finalists, the student project is building WARR (Scientific Working Group for Rocketry and Astronautics) of the Technical University of Munich developed a prototype for the Hyperloop.
WARR Hyperloop: With Indiegogo to LA
The students now need financial support to complete their Hyperloop project and transport it to California, so they've launched a campaign on the fundraising platform Indiegogo. For just 10 $, you can enter the WARR Hyperloop Hall of Fame. For 1,000 $, you'll be there when the high-tech vehicle hits the tracks in Los Angeles. If you want to have your logo on the Hyperloop, it costs 10,000 $.
