Munich and Austin share more than just a love of good music and a strong identity – both cities are leading global centers of innovation. This connection will be celebrated on March 14th at the Munich House within the framework of SXSW 2026 Visible reality. Under the leadership of Munich Startup, a place is being created where Bavarian culture meets cutting-edge technology.
Where deeptech meets Bavarian tradition
Munich Haus has a clear goal: to increase the visibility of Munich's startup ecosystem and build a bridge between the startup communities of both cities. The focus is primarily on forward-looking topics:
- Technology focus: Deeptech, AI and security are the central pillars of the program.
- Dual Use: Innovations in the field of dual use also receive their own stage.
- Networking & Collaboration: The building serves as a "brewing ground" for the exchange between international talent, investors and players from both ecosystems.
A piece of Munich in Texas
To ensure that the networking concept also bears culinary and cultural fruit, the Munich House is bringing authentic Munich lifestyle to Austin. Plans include:
- A watch party of the Bundesliga match FC Bayern Munich vs. Bayer Leverkusen in cooperation with FC Bayern
- A white sausage breakfast
- An Oktoberfest happy hour with traditional decorations, beer, bratwurst and a live band.
- The German Texan Heritage Society acts as an experienced local host.

Several well-known partners are already on board, and there's still an opportunity to join this week, as the network is set to expand further. Arno Eggers, Director Munich Startup, promises:

We offer Munich brands and startups not only the chance to position themselves in a top-class deeptech environment, but also create a unique atmosphere for genuine collaborations through the connection with our Bavarian identity."
We are looking for additional partners who want to enrich the stage program or help shape the Bavarian way of life. Particularly exciting: In the Super Connectors format, partner startups can pitch directly and present their "Critical Ask" to a global audience.
