Digitalschmiede Bayern is entering the next round in 2026. The fellowship program of the “byte – Bavarian Agency for Digital” brings together interdisciplinary teams that develop digital solutions for public administration. Students, innovators, professionals, and career changers can apply until May 17, 2026.
During the three-month program from August 3 to October 30, 2026, participants work full-time on user-centered prototypes. The goal is to develop digital services that concretely improve the daily lives of citizens in Bavaria. Teams address real challenges from the administration and rely on agile methods and modern technologies.
Practice, network & digital innovation
Digitalschmiede targets talents from fields such as UX/UI design, software development, product management, business, and digital innovation. Participants receive a monthly stipend of 1,100 euros and work on-site in Munich at the digital agency’s office.
The focus is on practical experience: fellows independently develop solutions, gain expertise in user-centered methods, and learn how the public sector operates. At the same time, they benefit from a strong network of experts, innovators, and partner organizations.
Behind Digitalschmiede is the Bavarian Agency for Digital in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital. The Fraunhofer FIT, the FIM Research Institute for Information Management, and Creative Dock, among others, are responsible for organization and implementation.
