Fresh capital for tech innovations

Bosch, BMW i Ventures and Earlybird are expanding their funds for technology-oriented startups. This opens up new financing opportunities for Munich-based startups in the fields of artificial intelligence, deep tech and industry.

New financial prospects are emerging for Munich startups: Several industrial companies and venture capitalists are currently expanding their activities in the startup sector. Bosch, BMW i Ventures, and Earlybird plan to invest substantial sums in technology-oriented startups over the coming years. The focus is on artificial intelligence, deep tech, and industrial applications.

By 2030 Bosch Business Innovations Bosch will invest around €200 million in the development of 20 new startups outside its core business. The funds are being provided by the Bosch Group. In parallel, BMW i Ventures a new fund of over 300 million US dollars. Early bird In turn, it closes an early-stage fund of 360 million euros.

Focus on technology and industrial applications

Bosch Business Innovations focuses on three technology fields: remote medical monitoring, software-controlled manufacturing, and the capture, utilization, and storage of greenhouse gases. The goal is to bring technology-driven business models to market maturity. The venture builder works with external founders who assume operational responsibility.

The company combines technological resources with industrial infrastructure to achieve this.

BMW i Ventures is focusing its new fund on technological developments related to mobility and industry. The focus is on artificial intelligence applications, including systems for process automation and software-based solutions for industrial applications. Investments will be made in startups in Europe and North America, from the early stages to the growth phase.

Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, says:

"With the BMW i Ventures, we are making a targeted investment in technologies that will shape the future of our industry."

In addition to artificial intelligence, the fund also addresses topics such as the circular economy and new materials.

Early-stage financing in Europe

Earlybird is the latest investor to close a new fund. This eighth early-stage fund comprises €360 million and is the company's largest fund to date. Earlybird invests in artificial intelligence, software infrastructure, deep tech, and hardware.

Part of the strategy involves the greater integration of artificial intelligence into its own processes, for example in the selection and support of portfolio companies. Earlybird is also introducing an investment model in which active partners retain a long-term stake in the company.

Earlybird's previous investments also include the Munich-based startups Isar Aerospace and Marvel Fusion.

Current developments show that the supply of growth capital for technology-driven startups is expanding. This creates additional points of contact with international investors for Munich-based startups in the fields of artificial intelligence, industrial applications, and deep tech.
