mFUND funding program for mobility ideas launched

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure The Federal Ministry of Transport, Digital and Information Technology (BMVI) is providing around 100 million euros through mFUND by 2020 for the development of digital business ideas based on mobility, geo- and weather data. These include new navigation services, intelligent travel planners, and highly accurate weather apps.

With this new research funding program, the Federal Ministry of Transport, Digital and Infrastructure (BMVI) aims to invest in digital mobility, one of the largest innovation fields in digitalization. The goal of the program is to open up the BMVI's "data treasure trove" to all interested parties in the spirit of open data. The data primarily consists of geospatial and other specialist data within the BMVI's area of responsibility.

mFund aims to awaken digital entrepreneurial spirit

All interested parties should now be able to develop new usage and networking options with the data – beyond the current use in administration – and to identify the data needs of the future.

The BMVI aims to awaken a new, digital entrepreneurial spirit and, with mFUND, to contribute to promoting a new data culture that sees open data as an opportunity.
