ESG software providers Code Gaia and Planted are merging. A new provider of sustainability management solutions for medium-sized businesses is being created under the umbrella of House of Gaia Holding.

The Munich SaaS providers Code Gaia, together with the Cologne-based company Planted, is building an integrated provider of sustainability management services under the name House of Gaia Holding. The merger is driven by increasing regulatory requirements for companies. Regulations such as CSRD, IED, PPWR, and ESPR are driving the need for solutions that combine sustainability management and compliance. Code Gaia and Planted pursue an approach that views sustainability not only as a regulatory obligation but also as an economic lever for businesses.

Both companies will remain operationally active. Markus Adler will assume the role of CEO, while Niklas Schönstein will be responsible for product strategy. Wilhelm Hammes, co-founder of Planted, will manage the holding company's acquisition strategy.

Further acquisitions planned

In parallel with the merger, House of Gaia is launching an acquisition strategy. Over the next 24 months, the group plans to strategically integrate ESG software providers with complementary solutions. This will allow the solution portfolio to grow continuously without requiring customers to switch providers.

Markus Adler, CEO of Code Gaia, says:

“Our goal is to make sustainability profitable for SMEs – the backbone of our economy. Because it only works if it pays off and strengthens the resilience of companies. Our joint approach is geared towards this. We combine AI-supported software with personal consulting – from ESG data collection and reporting in companies and supply chains to concrete climate protection measures.”

Also Wilhelm Hammes sees the merger as a basis for further growth:

“Regulatory requirements are changing at an ever-increasing pace. With this merger, we are creating a platform that provides companies with security and adapts dynamically. Further acquisitions are already in the planning stages. Our goal is a European solution that SMEs can rely on in the long term.”

Code Gaia extends with Planted his offer includes concrete environmental protection measures such as regional company forests and support for global climate projects.
