PreOmics wins 2nd prize at Science4Life Award

The BioM-Startup PreOmics based in IZB Martinsried secured second place with 10,000 Euros at the Science4Life Venture Cup 2016. First place and 25,000 euros can be won by NanoWired The Darmstadt-based company impressed with a self-developed nano-Velcro fastener.

PreOmics offers a sample preparation kit for mass spectrometry-based proteomics. This kit is designed to enable protein analysis for non-experts. The resulting insights are valuable in the research, drug development, and diagnostics market segments. Due to the diverse application possibilities, the startup estimates the market potential at over USD 500 million. PreOmics was previously part of the Winter class 2015/2016 of the LMU Labs and moved to the IZB in Martinsried this year.

128 teams from three countries at the Science4Life Venture Cup

A total of 128 startup teams from Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg participated in the Science4Life Venture Cup 2016. Among the 58 submitted business plans, there were particularly many applications from the fields of medical technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, green and clean technology.

Launched in 1998, the Science4Life eV startup initiative organizes the business plan competition annually. The competition focuses on business ideas from the life sciences and chemistry sectors.
