After Brazil and Chile, Mexico is the third major Latin American country where Flix will operate – and thus an important milestone in the company’s Latin American expansion. In the other two markets, the Munich-based company is already seeing great success and has significantly expanded its offering in recent months. André Schwämmlein, CEO and co-founder of Flix, explains:

“Bus travel has a great tradition in Mexico, and we want to contribute to it. We want to offer customers in Mexico a modern travel experience with our technology platform, our app, our global brand, and our expertise.”

However, Latin America is not the only market where Flix is expanding. The company is offering national routes in Norway for the first time. Flix also launched a new airport shuttle service in Sweden and expanded its offering in Finland. Additionally, Flix has added new destinations to its long-distance bus network in Portugal and now serves almost 100 stops there. Nineteen new destinations were also added in Ukraine, bringing the total number to 92. In Flix’s newest market, India, the company is also expanding significantly: today the Flix network covers over 100 cities there. Further service expansion is planned for Finland, Ukraine, India, and the South American region later this year.

Flix expands train connections

In addition to expanding its bus connections, Flix is continuing to work on its train network in Germany. With the winter timetable 2024/25, the company expanded its cooperation with the Germany tariff association (DTV). This means that approximately 200 additional cities are now accessible with combination tickets consisting of a Flixtrain journey and a regional train journey. In this way, the company is doubling its offering compared to spring 2024. According to company information, around ten million people in over 350 cities now have access to the Flixtrain network. Schwämmlein commented on this:

“Flixtrain will be a crucial component of our growth strategy in the coming years. The cooperation with the DTV is an important step to networking more cities across Germany with our offering – including outside the major metropolitan regions.”

Furthermore, Bavaria is now part of the DTV cooperation for the first time, with cities such as Aschaffenburg, Schweinfurt, and Würzburg now included in the network. Additional cities from which travelers can now book Flixtrain services include Elmshorn, Flensburg, Kiel, Ludwigshafen, Pforzheim, and Speyer.
