How startup scene As reported, the Munich-based startup Freeletics is closing its Berlin office in order to consolidate all of its corporate expertise in Munich. The Berlin employees will be offered equivalent positions in the Munich office.
About a year ago, the company opened a branch in the capital with up to 15 employees. The focus of the Berlin office was on developing a new gym app that would suggest exercises for gym-goers. Berlin was chosen as a second Freeletics location at the time because one of the co-founders, Joshua Cornelius, lives there. The company also wanted to establish a presence in the capital.
From the Spree back to the Isar
But now, the company is taking a turnaround: Freeletics is closing its office on the Spree River. In the future, all business will be conducted from Munich again. This means that all employees will be based in one location again. According to Gründerszene, this should help further strengthen team spirit and efficiency at the Munich startup.
The development of Freeletics has certainly been very positive so far: Founded in June 2013, the company is active in over 160 countries, has over 10 million members and is one of the most successful fitness movements in the world.
