Last October, Camperboys GmbH with its camper rental Off filed for insolvency due to economic challenges. The stated goal at the time was to find a new investor and, with their help, continue the business.

This plan didn’t work out, but there is now positive news. Vanever, the camper rental of Freeventure GmbH, decided to take over parts of Off’s business. This will continue the Hamburg location as well as essential parts of the previous back office and station team. Under the new leadership of Philipp J. Jacke, founder and CEO of Vanever, both team spirit and service quality are to be preserved.

Philipp J. Jacke, CEO of Vanever, says:

“We preserve the essence of what makes Off so special and bring its strengths into Vanever from now on. We have taken over the most valuable resources such as the team, the technology, and the Hamburg location, and we will continue to provide camper enthusiasts with extraordinary travel experiences with the familiar continuity and reliability.”

Customers can continue to rent campervans and motorhomes as usual via Off’s website. From now on, Vanever will handle the bookings to ensure a seamless transition. In addition to the Hamburg location, which was taken over from Off, Vanever already operates locations in Munich, Salzburg, Münster, and Augsburg.

Combining the best of Off and Vanever

As part of the takeover, a forward-looking business model was introduced that specifically addresses past challenges. Vanever relies on a modern partner fleet and has not taken over any vehicles from Off. Instead, specialized dealers and converters provide campers and take them back at the end of the season. This allows Vanever to focus entirely on its core rental business.

To complement this model, Vanever continues to work with Off’s rental software, which enables efficient management. Together, this creates a more flexible and sustainable strategy designed to equip the company for the future. Vanever CEO Philipp J. Jacke wants to decide on the future uniform brand positioning over the coming weeks.
