FlixBus is continuing its global expansion strategy and announces its market entry in Peru for 2025. The company, which is already operating successfully in Brazil and Chile, also plans to launch in Mexico in the first half of 2025. With a market size of around 18 billion euros, the long-distance bus market in Latin America offers enormous potential that Flix now wants to tap into.
André Schwämmlein, CEO and co-founder of Flix, explains:
“With Flixbus, we want to offer travelers in Latin America a reliable and affordable option. The rail infrastructure there is underdeveloped and flights are only available between major cities. As a result, buses are one of the most important means of travel. The success of Flixbus in Brazil and Chile proves that our business model works globally. With Peru and Mexico, we are now taking the logical next step.”
Flixbus has been rolling in Latin America since 2021
Flix has been operating in Latin America since 2021 and according to its own figures is experiencing strong growth there. In Brazil, the company has expanded its network from 27 to over 100 cities in three years. In Chile, Flix now connects 14 cities across eight regions.
With this expansion, the mobility company is continuing its technology-driven, global growth strategy. Schwämmlein adds:
“Our goal remains profitable, sustainable and responsible growth. We have established Flix in Europe and expanded to the US just five years after our launch. With Latin America and Asia, there are still major bus markets ahead that are an important part of our growth strategy.
The company has been on the market for twelve years and has already successfully established itself in Europe, North America and India. The markets in Latin America and Asia are now the focus of the next growth phase.
