Enerkii has completed a financing round of undisclosed amount led by World Fund. The VC is considered a leader in the European climatetech sector. The startup plans to use the capital to accelerate its European expansion and fill key positions. The goal is to become the leading provider of decentralized renewable energy for industry and commerce in Europe.
Enerkii was founded in March 2024 by David Balensiefen, Henry Thierhoff, and Hendrik Abel. The startup offers a combined software and hardware solution that gives industrial companies access to green energy – without their own investment risk.
With its proprietary Enerkii OS, the company calculates the optimal energy system configuration for individual sites in a short time. The startup then assumes financing, installation, and operation of the systems at the customer’s location under an energy-as-a-service model. The systems include PV systems, battery storage, charging infrastructure, and a system for smart electricity procurement. Enerkii acts as an independent energy provider.
“What has been missing so far is a plant operator that can offer expertise, financing, and operations from a single source. With Enerkii, we close this gap. There are no investments, no complexity. We only make money when the customer saves. This makes decarbonization a no-brainer and an immediate competitive advantage”,
says Hendrik Abel, co-founder of Enerkii.
According to the company, customers save an average of 50 percent compared to their previous electricity bills. At the same time, they receive resilient, autonomous power supply.
Henry Thierhoff, also co-founder of the startup, says:
“We offer a package where sustainability is not just an altruistic act that is rewarded with a green premium, but where there is actually a green discount.”
According to the company, Enerkii has already concluded 18 contracts with renowned German industrial companies. The planned systems have a total capacity of more than 87 megawatts.
Daria Saharova, General Partner at World Fund, says:
“More than a quarter of energy consumption in the EU is attributable to industry, but 80 percent of German industrial sites still rely on fossil fuels. Enerkii is changing that. The company reduces energy bills by 50 percent, eliminates customer risk, and reduces emissions. Led by entrepreneurs who have already been successful, Enerkii is able to decarbonize one of Europe’s most environmentally harmful sectors.”
