Which startups have particularly captured the attention of Munich Startup readers this month? In our “Startups of the month” section, we present the five most exciting companies that made the list this month.

#Startups of the month

**Place 1:** With funding of 85 million euros in early August, the camping company **Roadsurfer** takes first place in our monthly selection. The funds come from two separate sources: an asset-backed securities (ABS) financing of 60 million euros from Macquarie Group and venture debt financing of 25 million euros from Spanish banking group BBVA. With the fresh capital, the Munich-based company plans to further expand its vehicle fleet of currently around 10,000 campers. **Place 2:** **NuuEnergy** wants to bring order to heat pump projects – with its own regional specialist businesses, digital infrastructure, and AI-powered processes. Rather than quick sales, the Munich startup focuses on quality, customer proximity, and sustainable structures to advance the energy transition. The interview with Tobias Klug, co-founder and CEO of NuuEnergy, generated considerable interest and secured second place for the young company in “Startups of the month” in August. **Place 3:** The Munich startup **Justairtech** is developing a cooling system that works with what seems like a simple, but so far economically unused medium: air. With innovative 3D-printed heat exchangers and fractal design, they reduce energy consumption by up to 80 percent according to company information – taking an important step toward climate-neutral cooling. **Place 4:** With pre-seed funding in the mid-six-figure range, **Ciao Coffee** secures fourth place in August. With its sustainable, functional iced coffee without beans, the young company aims to establish a new beverage category. The round was led by the impact angel network Better Ventures. Multiple business angels from the fast-moving consumer goods, e-commerce, and foodtech sectors also participated. **Place 5:** And another funding announcement makes it into the top 5 this month: **Tanso** raised 12 million euros in a series A. The round was led by international venture capital firms HenQ and Fortino Capital. Existing investors Capnamic and UVC Partners also participated again. Founded in 2021, the company offers a cloud-based software solution for environmental management, ESG data management, and compliance automation. The platform is particularly aimed at manufacturing industrial companies that are under pressure due to increasing regulatory requirements – such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) at EU level – to capture, report, and verify comprehensive sustainability metrics (KPIs).
