At this year’s final of the nationwide Generation-D competition, sustainable business ideas were the focus. Among the six finalist teams, two Munich startups successfully prevailed. The competition promotes entrepreneurial ideas that contribute to the implementation of the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals. In addition to prize money, the teams gain access to a strong network and valuable expertise.
Generation-D: innovations with social impact
Munich startup Muniqo Performante secured first place and also won the audience award. Founders Luca Fabiano and Sebastian Wann developed a magnetic spring damping system with vibration sensor. It stabilizes transport incubators for premature infants and protects them from dangerous vibrations. The technology can also be used in battery manufacturing or quantum technology applications.
Third place also went to a Munich startup: Puray. The medtech company was founded in 2018 and develops an innovative catheter that continuously disinfects itself using UV-C light during treatment. Patients are thereby better protected from wound infections and multi-resistant pathogens.
Generation-D shows once again this year how young founders tackle societal challenges with creative ideas. The winners impressively demonstrate that technological progress and social impact can go hand in hand.
