The new-space startup Reflex Aerospace has raised 50 million euros in a funding round. It is the largest series A to date in the European new-space sector. Human Element is leading the round. Other investors include Alpine Space Ventures, Bayern Kapital, the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), and Renovatio Financial Investments.
Reflex plans to use the capital to expand its manufacturing capacities in Bavaria. The startup, based in Munich and Berlin, develops and produces high-performance satellite platforms, known as satellite buses, that are tailored to customers’ individual requirements. The goal is to manufacture satellites faster and more flexibly to serve applications in communications, earth observation, and data analysis.
Expansion in Munich
Reflex Aerospace uses its “Praetora” platform for production. It enables rapid development of new satellite types and is based on modern methods such as generative design and additive manufacturing. In Munich, the company operates a “micro factory” that allows for shorter production cycles. This is to be expanded with the help of the new funding to also enable larger constellations, such as in telecommunications, to be realized.
“We are very pleased to have convinced numerous renowned investors with our technology as part of our series A funding round – the largest in the European new-space sector to date. Europe cannot afford to remain dependent on external actors in this field, which is why we are already investing in our manufacturing capacities today and working with the best partners in their respective fields of expertise – and we are acting now, because there is no time to lose”,
says Walter Ballheimer, CEO of Reflex Aerospace.
Reflex Aerospace: Development until 2027
The company aims to have all capabilities brought to operational readiness and demonstrated in orbit within two years. The rapid scaling over recent years has also convinced numerous investors. Monika Steger, managing director of Bayern Kapital, comments:
“We have been supporting Reflex Aerospace since its extended seed funding round in 2023. Since then, the company has commissioned its micro factory in Munich and in January 2025 launched the first Reflex Aerospace satellite “SIGI” aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Space X into space. The company has proven that it has the technological know-how and capacities to meet the continuously growing demand for specialized satellites in Europe and is thus a promising investment for us.”
And Christian Ziach, principal at HTGF, adds:
“Reflex addresses exactly the capabilities Europe needs now – rapidly scalable, mission-critical satellite platforms. Against this backdrop, the largest series A round in the European new-space sector is a strong signal for scaling. We are proud to have supported Reflex since the seed phase.”
