In June 2022, Munich-based startup Kranus Health completed its Series A round with €6.1 million ($6.5 million). Now the company announces an expansion of its Series A to a total of €14.3 million ($15 million). New investor SwissHealth Ventures led the funding round together with existing investor Karista. All other existing funders (HTGF, Wenvest, and A Round Capital) have also participated again in the funding.

Kranus Health plans to use the fresh capital to expand into markets beyond Germany. Back in June, the startup expanded its presence in France by opening its third office in Paris. Jens Nörtershäuser, co-founder and co-CEO of Kranus Health, comments:

“We are convinced that now is the right time for the global rollout of digital health models. The EU is a pioneer in integrated care offerings, which are also becoming increasingly established internationally.”

Kranus Health revolutionizes urological care

With the new investor SwissHealth Ventures, Swiss health insurer CSS has created the necessary structures to invest in innovative startups in the healthcare sector. Philomena Colatrella, CEO of CSS, on the reason for the partnership:

“Our belief in Kranus Health’s groundbreaking approach to integrated urological care aligns perfectly with our mission to drive transformative change in healthcare and improve its accessibility and effectiveness for all.”

Kranus Health’s mission is to revolutionize urology with technological innovations. The main goal is to improve access to effective therapies for urological diseases. The company therefore develops digital solutions for treating a variety of urological conditions.

With Kranus Edera, the company has already brought the first digital health application to market as a fully reimbursable “app on prescription” for treating erectile dysfunction and its causes. Results from an associated study at Münster University Hospital indicate an improvement in erectile dysfunction and quality of life. Another product, Kranus Lutera, is expected to be reimbursable in early next year and fills a gap in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Additional urological therapies for men and women are currently in planning.
