The Deutsche Börse Venture Network its “Venture Match” offering, which aims to bring together startups in need of capital and investors on a neutral platform.
Hauke Stars, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG, explains the intention behind the offer:
"Investors and entrepreneurs face major challenges in growth financing. The market is opaque, which is why companies have to invest a great deal of effort in acquiring investors and yet often fail to achieve the desired volume. Investors, in turn, have so far had insufficient access to attractive investments."
At matchmaking events, roadshows and via an online platform, Deutsche Börse employees will match companies and investors according to their respective preferences.
The "Deutsche Börse Venture Network" initiative was co-initiated by the German federal government. As a replacement for the Neuer Markt, the program is intended to help startups obtain financing. The stock market segment for young, growth-oriented companies was discontinued in 2003 after the bursting of the dot-com bubble. The goal of the new program is to facilitate access to the capital market for tech startups. Since the Venture Network's launch in June 2015, twelve investor events have already taken place internationally. Investments totaling €700 million have been completed in 22 financing rounds.
