Let's change – how social entrepreneurs shape the world

Under the motto “Let's change – shaping our world sustainably with social entrepreneurship!” Social Entrepreneurship Akademie (SEA) organized an interactive workshop as part of the Science Days.

For the fourth time, SEA is supporting the Science Days to raise awareness of social entrepreneurship. Christina Hunn of SEA on the involvement in the Science Days:

"With our workshop, we want to inspire Munich's citizens and, together with young founders, demonstrate that entrepreneurial means can deliver social added value."

The approximately 100 participants learned through play how socially sustainable and viable concepts can be developed for the social and ecological problems of our time. One goal of the SEA—to reach more than just students—was achieved: From schoolchildren to entrepreneurs and employees to retirees, the participants were diverse and enjoyed the project with great enthusiasm.

Suggested solutions for social entrepreneurs

With the founding teams of Polarstern, Viva con Agua, Waterfilter and LegionellEX, the aim was to delve into the world of social entrepreneurship and help the young founders further develop ideas and solutions for specific problems.

How do I structure my market entry? How do I market my product more attractively? How do I achieve widespread distribution of my products in Tanzania? And what kind of campaign could I organize for World Water Day 2017? The suggested solutions were varied: trade fair visits, a Tupperware party, drone video, or a water run? The founders were able to take away a variety of ideas.

New thoughts and inspiration

The exchange is one of the reasons why the social entrepreneurs participate in the workshop. But there's more to it than that. Verena Wiget from Polar Star:

"We're here to show that social entrepreneurship is tangible and that it works. We want to engage citizens and continually find good solutions through workshops like this. We see what works and what doesn't quite work. And we gain a lot of feedback, input, and new ideas."

The workshop participants also took away new ideas and inspiration — and insights into the world of social entrepreneurs.
