With an investment of €18 million from the Bavarian Growth Fund, Bayern Kapital was able to mobilize a full €127 million in growth capital. The secret: private capital is acquired through a leverage mechanism.
Bayern Kapital, the venture capital firm of the Free State of Bavaria, has been commissioned to manage the Bavarian Growth Fund. This fund has a total volume of €100 million and is intended to support Bavarian growth companies in the high-tech sector. Each company can invest between €2 million and €8 million from the fund. Investments are made exclusively in partnership with private investors.
Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Ilse Aigner, which initiated the fund, takes stock:
“We have already significantly exceeded our own targets, both in terms of the number of investments and leverage.”
Also Roman Huber, one of the two managing directors of Bayern Kapital, is satisfied:
"The Bavarian Growth Fund has significantly expanded the range of public financing options for Bavarian high-tech companies. As a partner investor with private investors, we are thus able to enable startups to take further growth steps – for example, to expand their product range, expand internationally, or commission expensive approval studies."

Among other things, the Bavarian Growth Fund invested in a Series C round in eGymThe total volume of the financing round was around 42 million euros. The biotech company immune from Martinsried was able to complete a financing round with a total volume of 17.5 million euros with the support of the Growth Fund.
