La Famiglia: Venerable entrepreneurial families invest together

The new venture capital fund has been operating for half a year The Family from Munich — but so far in secret. What's special about it: members of prominent entrepreneurial families have joined forces.

The omertà has been broken: The vow of secrecy of the new VC fund La Famiglia can't have been as strict as that of the notorious southern Italian families. But for half a year now, La Famiglia has apparently been operating largely unnoticed by the public. The VC has apparently already invested in seven startups. According to Handelsblatt The investor has access to a mid-double-digit million amount.

Who is behind it?

The name of the investment company says it all: The money comes from members of important entrepreneurial families, including Siemens, Miele, Braun, Viessmann, Fürstenberg, Conrad and Swarovski.

The aim is apparently to allow the “old economy” to participate in the innovative power of startups. Fund manager Robert Lacher told Handelsblatt:

“We want to bring together companies that have been successful for generations with the smartest founders and the best ideas.”

As is common practice among venture capitalists, La Famiglia does not seek majority stakes.
