Conciliatory end to an impending legal dispute: Subscription alarm and Web.de have settled their differences over apparently rejected cancellations by Aboalarm customers at Web.de.
A good two weeks ago, the consumer service startup had warned the online portal Web.de (Munich Startup reportedThe accusation: The portal allegedly rejected cancellations of its club via Aboalarm, citing "security reasons." Web.de denied this and assured that it would accept cancellations of this kind. Both sides have now settled the dispute and announced that the cause of the differences was an error in Web.de's customer communication.
Misunderstood automatic emails – Aboalarm turns a blind eye
According to current information, Web.de apparently consistently accepted cancellations made through the Munich-based service provider. However, when customers inquired about the status of their cancellation, misleading automated emails were sent. Web.de reportedly sent the incorrect response 168 times between August 1, 2016, and February 8, 2017.
In response to the warning, Web.de analyzed the affected cases and discovered the error. Web.de regrets the misunderstanding and wants to avoid a recurrence in the future. In return, the Munich-based startup will waive legal action.
