Most people rarely think about their insurance, usually only when paying the annual bill. This could soon change with the startup of Munich-based entrepreneur Dr. Marie-Luise Meinhold. The sustainability expert has developed a property insurance policy that focuses on broad eco-social impact and supports its customers in an unconventional way in the event of a claim. Launching today, ver.de crowdfunding campaign on Startnext. It ends on April 7.
Insurance invests in renewable energies & Co.
The Munich-based startup ver.de claims to be the first company in the insurance industry to redesign the insurance business model with the goal of maximum eco-social impact. The greatest leverage for this is to be provided by the capital investments required by law for insurance companies. Contrary to industry convention, ver.de sees its central task as investing customer funds as comprehensively as possible in pioneering developments such as renewable energies, organic farming, and social innovations.

Internal calculations have shown that ver.de, with just 40,000 customers, could invest approximately 17 million euros in a way that takes social aspects into account without compromising security or legal requirements.
From damage to eco-upgrade

Those who live consciously in their daily lives don't want just any replacement in the event of a claim, but rather a "good," eco-friendly product, according to the young company. ver.de Insurance aims to address this need in the following way: If customers are entitled to a replacement, they will receive the eco-friendly upgrade, with the additional costs being covered by ver.de.
“We firmly believe that sustainable behavior should be rewarded and encouraged,”
says ver.de founder Dr. Marie-Luise Meinhold.
Raise inspiration and money via crowdfunding
With the Crowdfunding campaign Meinhold is now pursuing the goal of creating a professional brand presence for ver.de with which the target groups can identify.
"So far, we have driven and financed the founding of ver.de almost entirely through our own efforts. The crowdfunding project offers a very good framework for gathering momentum for ver.de's brand presence and raising the necessary capital together with our customers."
