Cobrainer receives seven-figure investment

Bayern Kapital and Vogel Ventures invest in the Munich-based technology startup Cobrainer GmbHTogether with business angels Michael Brehm and Andy Goldstein, as well as existing investor Linden Capital, a seven-figure seed financing round was completed. Cobrainer aims to use the capital to achieve a market-leading position in strategic human capital management using expertise intelligence.

The software developed by Cobrainer uses semantic networks from both corporate and open source data to determine the expertise required for a company project. This enables efficient, interdisciplinary teams to be assembled for project work, each with complementary expertise.

World's largest expertise database

The main questions are:

  • What expertise is essential to implement new projects?
  • Which employees can provide important information for idea evaluation?
  • Does a company have critical expertise gaps that need to be closed through training or recruitment?

To answer these questions, Cobrainer generates the world's largest expertise database from millions of publicly available project data sets and trains an artificial intelligence that "learns" which expertise should be applied appropriately to which tasks and projects. Cobrainer's existing customers include global corporations and large medium-sized companies.

An ideal product

“Cobrainer has developed first-class and innovative software for strategic human capital management,”

says Roman Huber, one of the managing directors of Bayern Kapital. And further:

"Using artificial intelligence, Cobrainer enables its customers to take a completely new approach to automated expertise management. This puts Cobrainer in a highly exciting and promising technological environment. We are very pleased to have completed an investment that, with its business model, strengthens digitalization in Bavaria."

"We were particularly impressed by the Cobrainer team in our investment decision. They combine technical expertise with sales persuasion in an international team. They have created a product that represents an ideal building block for digital knowledge management in companies. We are proud to look forward to a promising future together with Cobrainer,"

says Matthias Bauer, Managing Director of Vogel Business Media and Vogel Ventureit.

“Indispensable gain in experience”

Over the past three years, Cobrainer's six-person founding team has managed to win some of the largest companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, banking, and mechanical engineering sectors as clients. Since the beginning of 2016, the team has expanded to 13 employees, adding additional top-talented "brains."

"We are overjoyed about the first major investment in our company, in which Bayern Kapital and Vogel Ventures, coordinated by Redstone, are significantly involved. Especially through the experience gained from their extensive portfolio, we are already noticing the indispensable experience we are gaining from the new investor team,"

so Co-founder and Managing Director Hanns-Bertin Aderhold.
