Who will be the ICT startup of the year 2017?

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) is looking for the ICT start-up of the year 2017. The three winners will receive prizes totaling 100,000 euros.

Until April 21 Startups can apply for the award. After the application deadline, an independent jury of experts from business and science will select up to three winners, each of whom will receive a financial injection for their further growth: €50,000 for first place, €30,000 for second place, and €20,000 for third place. The prizes will be awarded publicly at the "Young ICT 2017" conference on June 7 in Berlin.

Who can participate?

The conditions for participation are strict. Only the following are eligible: EXIST Founders' Scholarship recipients, companies participating in the EXIST Research Transfer program, award winners of the "Digital Innovations" and "ICT Innovative" start-up competitions, investments from the High-Tech Gründerfonds, award winners and finalists of the BayStartUP business plan competitions and their counterparts in other German states, investments from a business angel from the Business Angels Network Germany (BAND) or through INVEST, and finalists of the German Accelerator.

Additionally, applicants must be incorporated companies founded in 2014 at the earliest, have a German headquarters, have an ICT focus, and have generated revenue of at least €100,000 in the previous year. Previous winners of the "Multimedia Start-up of the Year" and "ICT Start-up of the Year" awards are not eligible to participate.
