Munich leads the stock market league

Just as Bayern Munich dominates the Bundesliga, Munich companies dominate the stock market, according to a study. For ten years, the Bavarian capital has led the DAX rankings by a wide margin. Second place is always hotly contested. This year, Bonn takes it, followed by Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, and Düsseldorf.

According to a study by the strategy consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners, the market value of DAX, MDAX, and TecDAX companies based in the Bavarian capital, including heavyweights such as Allianz and Siemens, totaled over €330 billion in mid-May. This puts the Bavarian capital far ahead of its competitors in the stock market league.

Startups in particular benefit from the strong Munich companies and the potential for networking with large industrial companies.

The German capital, Berlin, does not appear in the top 20. It has lost ten places in the ranking since 2005, making it one of the biggest decliners in the city rankings.
