A golden nose for a business angel

The "Golden Nose" goes to the business angel with the best instinct and a truly good nose. The Business Angels Network Germany eV (BAND) is honoring the 2017the “Business Angel of the Year” for the 17th time.

In addition to this established award, another one is being added this year: For the first time, the “Golden Aurora Award“ on “Europe’s Female Angel of the Year” The award is intended to honor the growing influence of female angel investors in Europe.

Very exciting personalities have already been nominated for both awards — but BAND wants even more and has the Application deadline extended to June 30th.

How does a business angel make a fortune?

To even be considered for the award, a business angel must support "his" startup not only with an investment but also with their own network and extensive expertise. And, of course, initial exit successes don't hurt.

Startups, suggest your business angel!

Startups in which the angel investor has invested may submit nominations for the "Business Angel 2017" award, as well as for the female counterpart. The nominations should clearly state what the young entrepreneurs particularly value about working with "their" business angel.

Another possible quality indicator: if the same investor is nominated by multiple startups at the same time. At the very least, it would mean that the startups feel well looked after by their angel investor.

How does the application process work?

Only angels with investments that after made before December 31, 2012. To apply for the "Golden Nose," the following information must be provided:

  • Short profile of the proposing company including contact details
  • Contact details of the angel investor (the investor must be resident in Germany)
  • What makes the business angel special?

At the "Golden Aurora“ Only female business angels residing in Europe can be nominated.

Telling success stories

Both awards will be presented by a select jury consisting of members of the "BAND Heaven of Fame" and ecosystem stakeholders. The respective winners will be honored at the "Business Angel Community Summit 2017" on August 23-24.

The goal of the award? To share the success stories of experienced angel investors! Ultimately, this motivates other entrepreneurs to invest capital and expertise in innovative startups.

Written proposals can be submitted by 30 June 2017 via e-mail to Dr. Ute Günther from BAND.
