Innovations from Samba and Sauerkraut: German-Brazilian Startup Award

On September 28, the German Science and Innovation Center São Paulo (DWIH-SP) and the German Chamber of Commerce in Brazil (AHK-Br) will host an innovation congress aimed at bringing Germany and Brazil closer together in the field of innovation. For the first time, young companies can apply for the German-Brazilian Startup Award this year.

Startups Connected: Prominent Sponsors

In light of the trend towards open innovation, large, established companies and startups are increasingly converging. With this in mind, the AHK launched the initiative Startups Connected was founded to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the AHK. The initiative brings together all startup-related activities and consists of the German-Brazilian Startup Award, the AHK Startups Accelerator Program, and the AHK Startups Hub membership category.

The aim of the initiative is to promote rapprochement between member companies and German and Brazilian startups. The 2017 sponsors are BASF, Bayer, Siemens, Prensas Schuler, giz, Volkswagen, BMG, and SAP, with support from the German Institute for International Research (DWIH).

German-Brazilian Startup Award

The aim of the German-Brazilian Startup Award will be to identify and qualify Brazilian and German startups for further activities of the Startups Connected initiative and the global and local campaigns of the sponsors.

  • Pitch at the German-Brazilian Startups Innovation Congress
  • Detailed analysis of the startup
  • Pre-selection for the AHK Startups Accelerator program
  • Participation in the AHK Pitch Day
  • Invitation to a group meeting of the AHK Startups Accelerator program
  • Membership in the German-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce for one year (AHK Startups Hub)
  • Mentoring in various areas
  • Special conditions for participation in activities of partner institutions (e.g. Edital Senai de Inovação)
