Young companies in the food industry can apply for one of the 20 spots in the Food 2017 crowdfunding contest until September 10. The competition starts in mid-October. Up for grabs are financial support totaling €9,000 and a booth at the FOOD & LIFE trade fair in Munich at the end of November.
Innovative companies from the food sector can now apply to participate in the Food 2017 Crowdfunding Contest and win one of the prizes. The competition is initiated by the Nutrition Cluster at the Competence Center for Nutrition (KErn). The industry cluster is committed to shaping the industry for the future and aims to promote innovative food startups from Germany with this contest.
At least 5,000 euros funding target
The application period runs until 10 SeptemberInterested food project starters and food startups are invited to apply via the crowdfunding platform Startnext. All startups founded after January 1, 2014, whose residence or headquarters is in Germany, and whose innovative projects directly or indirectly serve the production of food and beverages are eligible to participate. The funding goal—that is, the amount the startup aims to achieve—must be at least 5,000 euros be.
Number of supporters is crucial
The contest participants will be announced on September 13. The contest itself runs from October 16 to November 20. The three cash prizes (€4,000, €3,000, and €1,000) will be awarded in the form of funding grants on November 10. To win a grant, the startup must have as many financial backers as possible. The number of backers who invest in the project themselves is the deciding factor, not the amount of funds raised.
Exhibition stand for the winner
The first-place winner will also receive a free exhibition booth at the FOOD & LIFE trade fair (November 29–December 3, 2017) in Munich, where the awards ceremony will also take place and the award certificates will be presented. In addition, the jury will award a special prize worth €1,000 for a particularly innovative project from the competition participants.
