The Real Estate Innovation Network (REIN) has completed its search for PropTech startups for its startup event at Expo Real. Twenty-five startups were selected in a pre-pitch competition.
700 startups from all over the world applied for one of the 25 pitch slots at Europe's largest real estate trade fair. 300 completed an initial selection process, and 50 then presented their work in a pre-pitch to an independent jury. The goal of the event is to drive the digital transformation of the real estate industry. Claudia Boymanns, Project Manager of Expo Real and co-initiator of REIN, says:
“The jury was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the applications.”
International focus
Among the selected companies is the Munich-based company ToposensThe startup has developed a 3D sensor system based on ultrasound that enables precise detection and positioning of people and objects. Toposens was recently awarded “ICT Start-up of the Year” by Federal Minister of Economics Brigitte ZypriesHowever, the network also considered an international focus important in its selection:
“The new technologies and service ideas do not stop at national borders,”
so Wolfgang Moderegger, Chairman of REIN.
“In retail, consumption and production, as well as in automotive and media, digitalization has been shaping the international scene for years.”
According to Moderegger, the network now wants to make a contribution to raising awareness of international developments in the largely still traditional and highly regulated real estate industry.
