Space Exploration Masters – bringing together innovative ideas from space and Earth

The Space Exploration Masters competition seeks innovative business ideas that benefit society and the economy—whether on Earth or in space. Technology transfer plays a key role in advancing the exploration of the Moon, Mars, and the solar system. The application deadline is September 8, 2017.

The Space Exploration Masters competition allows innovators, entrepreneurs, and space enthusiasts to advance space exploration with their forward-looking business ideas. Entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists, patent holders, and many more are eligible to apply.

The competition is organized by the European Space Agency (ESA), implemented by the AZO GmbHwho organize the competition.

There are two different categories: 'Technology Transfer Success' for already successful technologies and 'New Business Innovation' for new business ideas from startups.

It can, but doesn't have to, be the groundbreaking idea for innovative agriculture on Mars. Many business ideas can be transferred from space to Earth and vice versa—be it from the field of artificial intelligence, communications technology, or resource management, for example.

In both competition categories, contributions can be submitted on topics such as manned and unmanned space flight, discovery and observation of space, spacecraft, rockets, engines, space tourism, navigation in space, space habitats or life sciences.

Special prizes at the Space Exploration Masters

In addition to this, there are other special prizes: the 'Luxembourg Prize' for peaceful exploration and sustainable use of space resources, as well as another, the 'Sustainable Exploration Prize'.
