Retailtech Hub: MediaMarktSaturn and Plug and Play are looking for startups for retail

Following the Retailtech Hub Spacelab, MediamarktSaturn is launching a new startup program in Munich. It's scheduled to launch this fall.

Europe's largest electronics retailer is launching a new program for retail startups. As early as mid-October, ten companies will be participating for three months in the "Retailtech Hub" will move into the "Neuer Balan." The core of the offer is privileged access to the group's more than 1,000 stores in Europe. MediamarktSaturn-CDO Martin Wild tells Handelsblatt:

“This is the opportunity for startups to verify their ideas.”

Trading companies and Plug and Play as partners

The Retailtech Hub succeeds the MS Spacelab, the group's previous startup accelerator. Unlike the previous program, the Retailtech Hub also aims to involve other retail companies, says Wild:

“We want to expand this added value by enabling founders to test with retailers across multiple industries.”

The Plug and Play Tech Center, a startup investor and developer from Silicon Valley, is already on board. Saeed Amidi, founder and CEO of Plug and Play, says:

"We are looking for the most innovative companies in Europe and around the world to collaborate with established retailers. The goal is to further develop existing businesses, tap into new growth areas, and increase efficiency. MediaMarktSaturn has extensive experience in digitizing its business and is therefore the ideal driver for the Retailtech Hub."
