Brochure startup: Three publishing houses join Weekli

Weekly digitizes the classic advertising brochure: The Munich startup yack.rocks The platform, operated by the company, displays current brochures from local retailers. Three major German media companies have now acquired the portal.

One of the investors is MHS Digital GmbH, a subsidiary of Südwestdeutsche Medienholding, which also holds a majority stake in Süddeutscher Verlag. RP Digital GmbH, a subsidiary of the Rheinische Post Media Group, and DMO Digitale Medien GmbH & Co. KG, a NOZ Medien company, are also acquiring shares in the Munich-based startup. Through the deal, the three media companies will hold a total of 25.1 percent of yack.rocks GmbH, founded in 2016, equally. Alexander Kratzer, Managing Director of MHS Digital, says:

"The weekli is a product developed according to the latest standards, which will attract the attention of current market leaders due to its slimness and lack of legacy issues."

“Ideal addition to our printed supplements”

RP Digital Managing Director Oliver Horst sees his publisher’s digital supplement business strengthened by the deal:

"By bundling regional and national brochures on a single platform, we are creating a unique offering for readers and customers in the German media landscape, as well as an ideal complement to our printed supplements."

Nicolas L. Fromm, Digital Director at NOZ Medien says readers’ interest in brochures remains unbroken:

"With weekli, we are consistently rounding off our product portfolio and will continue to offer complete products for our readers and advertising customers in the region."

Weekli is available as an app for iOS and Android as well as via the website www.weekli.de available.
