Smart parking in Switzerland with ParkHere

St. Gallen is now also testing parking sensors as part of a pilot project for traffic control, together with the Munich-based startup ParkHere GmbHThe aim is to demonstrate the potential applications of a smart parking solution and to make parking space management more efficient.

After ParkHere launched a  Cooperation with the municipal utilities and the MVG in Munich, A collaboration with St. Gallen, Switzerland, now follows.

Find free parking spaces — directly and in real time

In the future, thanks to the Munich-based company's innovative idea, road users will be able to see which parking spaces are available in real time, thus saving time. Sensors embedded in the ground and triggered when a car is driven over them provide real-time information about parking space availability.

The system does not rely on any energy source, as it operates autonomously. The startup from the Bavarian capital thus provides a sustainable parking sensor that detects parking space occupancy and simultaneously provides live information.

This innovative solution contributes to significantly improving the quality of life. Drivers will no longer have to search for a parking space; instead, thanks to ParkHere, they can check availability online and navigate to a parking space directly.

St. Gallen on the way to becoming a Smart City

Felix Harteneck, CEO of ParkHere, is pleased about the cooperation:

"The ParkHere sensors fully meet the requirements profile. They have a service life of at least 25 years and are also easy to install."

The sensors should also help St. Gallen develop into a smart city with a higher quality of life, the company founder continues:

"The ParkHere sensors deliver data in real time, reducing the amount of parking search traffic and thus reducing environmental impact. Our energy-autonomous parking sensors make St. Gallen a more livable place."

ParkHere was founded in 2015. The Munich-based startup now has 25 employees. With its specially developed and built sensor, cities can make their parking management more efficient.
