Until October 10th, you can apply for the GreenTec Awards with an innovative idea in the field of environmental and resource protection, regardless of whether you are a large corporation or start-up, private individual or institution, national or international.
The GreenTec Awards focus on questions such as 'Which is the most innovative environmental protection project of the year?' or 'Which idea proves that a green lifestyle is now a part of everyday life?' The following categories are available for the 2018 competition: Building & Living, Energy, Mobility, Resources & Recycling, Sustainable Development, Sports, and Water & Wastewater.
A separate startup category
There is also a separate "Startup Category." The goal of this special award for young companies is to promote entrepreneurship, promote promising startups that contribute to environmental and resource conservation, and, last but not least, to support the winner and advance their project. All submissions from companies less than three years old automatically qualify for the Startup category in addition to the main category.
Important to know: The application costs — startup or not — a processing fee of 200 euros.
How the finalists are selected for the GreenTec Awards
Following the application phase, the category sponsors, as experts in their field, will select the top 10. The public online voting will then begin in December, with the general public choosing one of the top 3. The other two finalists will be selected by the interdisciplinary GreenTec Awards jury. The jury consists of over 70 board members, managing directors, and editors from organizations including Boeing Germany, WirtschaftsWoche, and WWF Germany, as well as prominent personalities. They will make the final decision on the winner in each category.
Glamour at the closing gala
The winners will be honored on May 13, 2018 in Munich during the glamorous awards ceremony, which will also open IFAT, the world's leading trade fair for environmental technology.
