A "digital whirlwind" threatens established companies and opens up opportunities for young ventures. Almost half of today's established companies will be completely transformed by digitalization in the coming years. At least that is what the approximately 950 companies surveyed in a study by Cisco and the business school International Institute of Management Development (IMD) think.

Four out of ten established players will be displaced by technological developments in the next five years. The advantages for startups are obvious: they are more agile and innovative.
Germany well positioned for Industry 4.0
Germany could be one of the biggest winners in the digital transformation, said Michael Ganser, head of Central Europe at network specialist Cisco. With regard to "Industry 4.0," the German economy is very well positioned. However, companies must focus on their core strengths and invest in training, innovation, and new partnerships.
